The overall aim of the project is to develop a community-based model for upgrading environmental services and public health in peri-urban areas of Sambizanga. It also aims at improving access to basic services of water supply, sanitation and primary health for the project area population and mobilising the community to actively participate in the improvement of environmental and public health conditions in the project area.

The strategy used emphasizes training of and partnership with members of the community, CBOs, NGOs and local and national government authorities.
